Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Resolve to Read in 2013

Top Ten Books I Resolve to Read in 2013

Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Yeah. I am the only person in the world who hasn't read this series. I resolve to fix that!

Grave Mercy by R.L. LaFevers
I've heard such great things, but have allowed the length of this book to intimidate me.

Eon by Alison Goodman
Another chunky book that I haven't tackled but heard wonderful things about, and I love a good fantasy.

Legend by Marie Lu
I love sci-fi and dystopian novels, so I purchased this eBook awhile ago... But still haven't read it.

Savvy by Ingrid Law
I try to make a point of reading Newbery Honor books, and I purchased this one a VERY long time ago. I want to finally get around to reading it.

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
Both my mom and other bloggers have raved about this book, and rumors are this book is a tear-jerker.

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
Another book that I've heard great things about and I'm really making an effort to try more contemporary fiction.

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
I heard Sarah Dessen speak in 2011, and have since wanted to read one of her books. This one I already downloaded as an eBook but I'd take recommendations of other books by Dessen.

Blood Red Road by Moira Young
Another series that I feel like I'm late to discover, but would really like to check out because it screams everything I like.

The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner
So many people say this series is exceptionally well done and one of their favorite, plus this book has been sitting on my shelf for ages.

Any recommendations on what to start with?
What are you resolving to read?

  2. Pushing the Limits is easily one of my favorite books of the year.

Dessen books are always classic. I really like Along for the Ride, and What Happened to Goodbye. The Truth about Forever is excellent as well. I'm excited for her new novel to come out.

    Delirium is also good.

The rest I'm dying to read as well.

Happy reading and Happy New Years!

  6. The Truth About Forever is at the top of my favorite books ever list, I love all Sarah Dessen but I've always felt it was her best. I've read it multiple times and get something different out of it each time. So, so good.

Legend is on my to read list too, I bought the ebook recently when it was on sale so I need too give it a try. Great list!

    1. Thank you so much for the endorsement of Truth About Forever! I'm glad that you think I've chosen one of her best. I thought Dessen was so adorable and charming when I heard her speak, and I want to enjoy her books too!

I think we bought Legend during the same sale :)

  8. You've got an interesting list and there are several I'm going to check out. Love your new TTT logo, too. I appreciated your comments about each book.

I trended toward some classics, this year. Happy New Year. Love the way you doubled your list. The Count of Monte Christo is on my Classics Club list and I may get to it this year. It'll be a reread but it's been, dare I say, decades since I encountered the count?

Here's my My must-reads 2013. Happy New Year and Happy Reading!

  11. Ahhh, I've missed your blog! Thanks so much for sticking with me even though I've been so absent for the past few months. But I'm back! ;)

I was thinking about our YA Book Store the other day... Man, I wish you and I both lived in like New York City or something--we'd be making the big bucks with that store idea!

Great list! Delirium is really good, and I think I enjoyed Pandemonium even more. I can't wait for Requiem! I've owned Legend and The Thief for a while now, so I need to get to those, too. And I just bought Blood Red Road, so I'll be reading it sometime soon (hopefully).

    Happy New Year!

  12. Yes. I love that blog button! I need to try and make one since I'm jumping on this Top Ten bandwagon. All these books look good! And none are on my list so you best write some reviews! Happy 2013!

  14. Yeaahh - Delirium, Grave Mercy, Code Name Verity, and Blood Red Road!! Truly excellent reads, and I hope you love them, too! I still need to read Eon, Legend, The Thief, and a Sarah Dessen book, as well. I feel you, all of these books have received such high praise that I feel like I just need to read them, like, NOW. That is a really cool button, btw!

  15. So many great books on this list!!! I've read all of them except EON (which I WANT to read) and SAVVY, which I haven't heard of. All are great. I LOVE LOVE The Thief Series, and Code Name Verity is incredibly moving. Actually, you can't go wrong with any of these.

  16. This is such a fantastic list! Delirium is a BRILLIANT novel, and one of my favorite dystopians ever. I highly recommend it. I also lovelovelove The Truth About Forever. It's my favorite Sarah Dessen novel, and one I reread constantly.

I haven't read a lot of the other books on this list, but Grave Mercy, Legend, and Code Name Verity are at the top of my TBR for 2013 as well.

  18. DELIRIUM is a must for beautiful sentences, and GRAVE MERCY and EON are both uber-great. LEGEND, ooh, yes, and PRODIGY...me too on that 2nd one... I've been up and down with CDOE NAME VERITY because I have to be in the mood for this type of book, but especially after the award buzz...! PUSHING THE LIMITS is a great contemporary, though definitely with issues. But it's AMAZING. BLOOD RED ROAD is a very interesting look at using slang in fiction. It takes some getting used to, but when you read it for long periods, you don't even notice after a while and it feels natural. THE THIEF is on my list this year, too, and actually by my bedside! We should coordinate reading times, perhaps? ;)
